Road Traffic Accidents in the UK, France, Spain, Europe

Whether travelling for pleasure, business, education, or exercise, we have all become accustomed to seeing road traffic accidents. If you have been injured (as a driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian) and it was not your fault or even in some circumstances where it was your fault, then you may be entitled to compensation – at home or abroad.

Our multilingual personal injury lawyers are highly experienced in helping people who have been injured in a road traffic accident in the UK, Europe and worldwide. This includes:

    • foreign nationals who have been injured on the road while travelling in the UK; and
    • British nationals who have been injured in a road accident abroad.

We are accredited by APIL, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, and have strong links in Europe, especially France and Spain.

Our track record of success

The solicitors at Pierre Thomas have a strong reputation for recovering compensation for people injured in road accidents in the UK, Europe, and worldwide; from minor injuries such as whiplash, to fatal cases and those involving brain, spinal or other severe injuries.

Recent examples include:

  • Obtaining £100,000 for a passenger in a motor vehicle who was injured while on holiday in France.
  • Acting for a British holidaymaker who was run over by a car in France and suffered serious orthopaedic injuries; we brought the claim in the English High Court for the assessment of his damages under French law, including a complex claim for loss of earnings requiring forensic accountancy evidence as the claimant was a business owner. The claim eventually settled for £330,000.
  • Settling a claim swiftly on behalf of two British people following a road traffic accident in Poland after Polish law evidence was obtained thanks to our network of experts abroad.
  • Secured a £95,000 settlement for a British cyclist who was on holiday in France training for a triathlon when he was hit by a car that cut across a bend in a countryside road and sustained multiple injuries.
  • Acted for a British lorry driver who suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after an accident on a motorway in Belgium, when a car suddenly cut across his lane to take an exit; he was unable to brake and collided with the car, killing one passenger. The claimant was unable to resume work as a lorry driver as a result of the trauma. He was awarded a £35,000 compensation.
